Diasble Hints - Kolibri Offline

Hello,

Please advise on how we disable “Hints” in Kolibri offline.

Hello @Rajesh_hansrajh !

Thank you for reaching out! Could you kindly clarify what you mean by “Hints”? If possible, sharing a screenshot or screencast of the feature would be very helpful.

Thank you,

Samson

Hi Samson,

Thank you for the email.

We are using the Khan Academy for offline learning.

When learners are completing their questions they have an option for hints to assist with completing the question. Some learners are continuously using hints without attempting to answer these math questions on their own.

I want to therefore have the ability to disable this feature.

Hi Rajesh,

Thank you for the clarification.

The “Hints” you’re referring to are built into the Khan Academy (Perseus) exercises. At the moment, Kolibri does not provide an option to disable these hints. It’s worth noting, however, that when a learner uses a hint, it does not count as a successful attempt — meaning they won’t be able to complete the exercise and move on without solving it correctly.

If you’d like to completely remove the hints, the only way to achieve this would be to run a custom integration of the Khan Academy exercises, that excludes hints during the content preparation (“cheffing”) process. Alternatively, since Kolibri and its resources are open source, you could fork the project and modify it directly to fit your needs. Both approaches, however, would require considerable technical effort.

Please let me know if you’d like more details on what those steps might involve.

Best regards,
Samson
