Kolibri won’t install - and when it did before, it wouldnt open, saying it was already open.

When you originally installed Kolibri, did you see a step asking to install or update Python? Based on your screenshot, the installer couldn’t find Python 3 and the ‘pip’ application, which is required to install Kolibri.

And yes, the step about installing Python came up, to which I said “Yes.” Is that what I should have done, or should I have installed it separately?

Yes, you should choose “Yes” at that step. It’s possible that our Kolibri installer did not install Python 3.4 for you in spite of this, though. Would you be able to check that the C:/Python34 folder exists on your computer and that it has installed pip.exe for you at C:/Python34/Scripts/pip.exe. If it hasn’t, this might indicate a bug with our installer on some Windows systems.
I’m asking around if there is a way for you to install Python separately, but I’m noticing on the Python windows downloads page that there is not a Windows installer for Python 3.4.

Thanks for posting this log. It looks like you’ve done everything right, so there might be a bug with our installer trying to run pip.exe, which we’ll have to look into.
If you are comfortable with using the command line, there is a way you can install and run Kolibri using the pip command line tool (which we have confirmed has been installed). Instructions here
It might go something like this on the command line:
> C:/Python34/Scripts/pip.exe install kolibri
If that goes well, you should be able to start it this way
> kolibri.exe start
@CaseyK we just noticed that on your screenshot, that pip.exe is 0KB, so maybe it wasn’t installed correctly. You might need to simply download the latest Python 3.7 from here, and then try installing Kolibri with the Python 3.7 version of pip that it comes with.

I found this Stack Overflow article that looks similar to what you’re seeing. They recommend not using the ‘x86-64’ installer, even if you do have a 64-bit system.

I was able to download Python but Kolibri still doesnt want to download. 
Can you try right-clicking the IDLE icon and select “Run as administrator” (if that option or something similar is available)?
Could you also try running python, or pip from the Command Prompt or Powershell?
The Kolibri MSI installer will still have problems, since it’s not installing Python 3.4 correctly. I’m trying to see if we can work around this by using Python 3.7 to do a manual installation from PyPi
The same error message appeared when I tried to run as administrator.
In the command prompt, what do I type to run Python?
You could try first just python
> python
But this will only work if python was added to the PATH environment variable during installation.
If it wasn’t, see if you can find where python.exe or pip.exe are installed on the C:/ drive. It’s probably in a folder like C:/Python37, like it was for Python 3.4
