Summary
Hello, we are currently working in setting up Android Learn-Only Devices, and we’ve noticed that after the initial installation and a day passes, many of the devices stop syncing. In order to circumvent the issue, it’s necessary to do a factory reset and install Kolibri again in order to update the content. We have used various computers as servers (Mac M1 and Two Windows) so we suspect the problem lies on the tablets themselves. (Many tablets either have “Haven’t synced in a long time” or “Waiting for Sync”). In the console of the Mac M1 server, it shows that all the tablets connect to the server successfully, yet there is no request for sync.
Technical details
Kolibri Version: 1.17.4
Operating System: Android (Standalone App)
Logs
Kolibri.txt
Important to note that if the app is uninstalled after the syncing issue, no server appears in the list of importable servers. If the IP is inputted, you are allowed to continue, but when syncing in step two it’s stuck in “Waiting” (This is where the factory reset comes into place, allowing us to install Kolibri again without the “Waiting” issue)
Hello @DanielJMZC!
Thank you for providing the Kolibri logs, there seem to be a few not clear things happening in there that we’ve not seen before.
It seems your Mac server has some internet proxy, is that correct? We also noticed references to the Android specific app plugin (referencing the version 0.4.3) and also the custom ServerStart magicbus plugin.
We would also ask for more specific information like the brand of Android tablet you are using, how did you install the app (Google Play Store?), which browser is being used, what else did you try to diagnose the problem, etc.
Next step would be to try to retrieve some Android specific logs (logcat
) from your devices, but that would require you to have additional software installed, so please provide the above before we resort to that. Thank you!
There doesn’t seem to be any proxy enabled:
The brand of the tablet is Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 (2019) with 32 GB. Google Play Store was used for the installation of the android specific app and Chrome seems to be the primary application installed.
Right now one of the tablets ran out of battery mid-sync (for the first time in this case) and trying to resync doesn’t work (It’s permamently waiting).
