Tracking Channel Versions and Major Updates

My organization uploads bulk content as well as makes small changes periodically, on Kolibri, using the CSV Workflow.

We were thinking of keeping a record of all previous channel versions (numbers) and respective channel descriptions (which one edits while publishing the channel through the Studio UI).

Queries:

  1. Is it possible to see all previous versions of a channel and descriptions somehow?
  2. Mostly we update our content once/twice/thrice a month but minor updations also happen in between. Is it somehow possible to keep track/identify those channel versions which have had major content update?

If the above isn’t possible, can this be potentially done through contributing to Kolibri?

Please let me know. Thank you.

Hi @essa,

We have only relatively recently started retaining metadata for previous channel versions, so some of this is starting to be possible, but would not be every single previous version, only those published after October 2nd, 2024.

Where would you be interested in seeing this data, in Studio or in Kolibri? Are you interested in being able to import historic versions into Kolibri, or are you mostly just concerned with giving more detail to the user about the nature of the update? At the moment, we do offer the version notes on publishing to give a free form way of expressing some of these things to the user, but it sounds like you are interested in something a bit more schematised?

Interested to hear your thoughts.

Kind Regards,
Richard
