Hello Kolibri Community,
I am working to try to bring new resources into the Kolibri Studio catalog, and one of those efforts has a little progress, making the MIT Scratch block-based programming tool run inside of Kolibri. I have an early version uploaded to Studio that isn’t ready for classroom use yet, but it is somewhat functional. The biggest problem is that it doesn’t have a way to save the projects, as the web feature that Scratch uses to allow saving projects to your device as a file is disabled within Kolibri. I have some ideas about how to work around this limitation, but I thought I’d share my progress with the community if others might like to try playing around with it. You can go to the public https://scratch.mit.edu/ website, click on a random game and from the project page and click “see inside” to view the code. When you can see the code editor the top menu File > save to your computer option will give you a file that you can load into the scratch edtior, including the one that I have bundled into a Kolibri channel (I can open files in the Kolibri version, I just cannot save them yet).
If you want to try playing around with the current in progress channel here is the token to import it: jitig-safid
